Marie Smith Crawford, 86, of Valdosta died on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born on February 2, 1924 in North Collins, New York to the late Lloyd L. and Alva Fish Smith. She was a homemaker and of the Christian Faith. She had been involved with the New Comer's Club and the Garden Club in Gainesville, Georgia and the Eastern Star in North Collins, New York. She loved to go hiking and antiquing.
Survivors include a son Lloyd Smith Crawford of Valdosta, and son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Sherrida Crawford also of Valdosta; grandchildren, Catherine Crawford of Tachoma, Washington, Vance and Beth Crawford of Wilmington, Delaware, Elizabeth Crawford of New Castle, Delaware, Phillip Crawford and Alice Crawford both of Valdosta; three great-grandchildren; former daughter-in-law, Arlene Crawford of Wilmington, Delaware, and a sister-in-law, Emile English of Wilson, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert David Crawford.
A memorial service for Marie Crawford will be held at 4 p.m, on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jerry Long officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The graveside committal will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 22, 2010 at the Maplewood Cemetery in Wilson, North Carolina.
