Wynelle Burgsteiner Bennett of Jacksonville Beach, Florida and formerly of Valdosta, died on December 7, 2009. Born in Valdosta on November 17, 1919, Wynelle was the daughter of the late Benjamin L. and Maude Burgsteiner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pharmacist Walter Lafayette Bennett. Mr. Bennett's father, R. Walter Bennett affectionately called "Dr." was also a druggist and owned Bennett's drug store in Valdosta, before relocating to Jacksonville Beach where he was the first practicing druggist at Bennett's drug store.
Survivors are her sister, Carolyn Johnson of Valdosta, her daughter, Carole Luper and husband Kenneth, of Molalla, Oregon, a son, Walter L. Bennett and wife Terrie, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, grandson, Matthew Bennett, granddaughter, Debbie Leighton of Molalla, Oregon, great granddaughter, Samantha Palmer of Molalla, Oregon; nephews, C. David Johnson of Valdosta, Ben Burgsteiner of Claremont, North Carolina and niece, Katherine Howlett of Sun City, California; and a number of great nieces, nephews, their families and many friends.
A memorial graveside service will be held at Cat Creek Cemetery on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com. Carson McLane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
